Welcome to the Gnuffy wiki.

What is Gnuffy?

Gnuffy is a GNU/Linux based on Archlinux - because we like the concepts and ideas standing behind, so our package manager spaceman is backwards-compatible to pacman's *.pkg.tar.gz and PKGBUILDs. Be aware of the fact that spaceman is beta software - however it works pretty well already.

The Gnuffy project declared its aim creating a free, community based linux distribution where everyone who has time and motivation can have a share. This looks like a matter of course for linux distributions but experience shows that, the more the community grows, the more conflicts arise concerning the direction which will be taken in the future - and now; and only a few people get the right to decide something.

With Gnuffy we want to build a distribution without (with as little as possible) hierarchic structures - which hopefully results in a very colorful linux distribution where not every system is like the other one because in the end, only the user of a system decides which components and features he wants to use.

At the moment, we are mainly working at spaceman's development and installing so-called repositories to provide access to our binary packages. Additionally, we invite everyone to create his own repository :-) Packages and Pkgbuilds are signed using Gnupg.

Because of its basic concept, it should be easy to port Gnuffy to any architecture that runs Gnu/Linux because the package manager is a bash script and most of the basic PKGBUILDs can be run on any other architecture without a need to be edited. Currently, we support x86 and x86_64.

Anyone having ideas he or she would like to see implemented in Gnuffy is free to create an article and to link it from ideas. If you are now convinced that Gnuffy is worth using, have a look at the Installation manual :) You can also do that if you're just curious. It's a free world.
